Remember the old commercial for the LifeCall personal medical alert pendant? Our hearts went out to "Mrs. Fletcher" as she immediately spoke with an operator saying, "I've fallen, and I can't get up!" They say this system saves one life every 11 minutes. Taking a fall can be a frightening and even life-threatening event.

The same is true in our spiritual lives. If only we could find a way to keep from falling spiritually! Peter's second letter to the churches offers just the right safety strategies.

The book of 2 Peter was written in perilous times. First century Roman persecutions were coming. Spiritual charlatans were roaming the churches. Things were very uncertain. But Peter, the chief Apostle of early church wrote to encourage believers.

The first letter of Peter was an uplifting message of hope. Now, he wrote to the believers with a warning to be alert and watchful in perilous times. This was the way to keep from falling.
