Mark 8
[27] Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way, he asked them, "Who do people say I am?"
[28] They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets."
[29] "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?"
Peter answered, "You are the Christ."

eter-ni-ty \ n 1 : the quality or state of being eternal. 2 : infinite time. 3 : the state after death. 4 : seemingly immeasurable time.
What will matter in eternity?
Will it matter what your family name was? Will it matter what schools you attended? Will it matter what jobs you held? Will the awards on your wall matter? Will it matter what degrees you earned?
Will it matter what neighborhood you live in? Will it matter how much money you earned? Will it matter how fast you ran the 10K? Will it matter if you wore the latest styles? Will it matter what clubs you joined? Will it matter which computer you use? Will it matter how many books you owned? Will it matter how many books you read?
Will it matter what kind of car you drove? Will it matter if you belonged to a country club?
Will it matter what end-time millennial position you held to be true?
Will it matter if you wore jewelry? Will it matter what rank you earned? Will it matter how fast your Internet service is? Will it matter if you had a lot of things? Will it matter what size house you occupied? Will it matter how it was decorated?
Will it matter what titles preceded your name? Will it matter what hobbies occupied your time? Will it matter which church you attended? Will it matter what denomination you were?
Probably not.
Will it matter how much time you spent with the Lord? Will it matter how much time you spend with your family? Will it matter if you gave care and compassion to people you did not know? Will it matter whether you shared Jesus with your neighbor?
Will it matter if you visited an older person? Will it matter if you encourage a child? Will it matter if you taught something special?
Will it matter if you were honest? Will it matter if you laughed? Will it matter if you were kind to people different from you? Will it matter if you were thankful? Will it matter if you prayed? Will it matter if you had integrity? Will it matter if you give away things? Will it matter if you had courage?
Probably so.
Will it matter who you said He was?
Enormously.

You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Help me to know what else matters. Help to order my day in a way that will matter in eternity. In Jesus' Name, Amen
