The Refugee Crisis

December 31, 2023 Pastor: Pastor Paul W. Reece Series: The Crises of the Creche

Verse: Matthew 2:13–18

Each year at Christmas we read the story of Jesus’s birth. A close look reveals to us that Mary and Joseph weren’t just travelers. It’s hard to imagine, but Mary and Joseph were refugees. They were running from King Herod to save the life of Jesus by fleeing to Egypt. They had no home.

The Bible is still relevant today. We can relate. Refugees around the world are fleeing from dangerous situations. People face not only genuine threats but also face genuine needs. We, as Christ followers, have to be committed to expressing grace, mercy, and hospitality to sojourners and strangers who come across our path.

Join us at Faith to dig into the Word and understand some of what it meant for Mary and Joseph to be refugees, just as people are today.
