Romans 14
[9] For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.[10] You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat.[11] It is written: "'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.'" [12] So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.

Okay. We have judging behind us, right? No more judgmental thoughts or utterances. No more comments about the decisions made by other Christians. No more snips about the beliefs of other churches or the way they worship. Zip the lips. After all, they can't help where they are in their "walk," right? But there we go again...
Paul says, "You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother?" Apparently, "looking down" is just about the same as judging and even easier to fall into.
"Well, if they need all that emotionalism, then that is okay. I won't judge."
"When he really grows in his walk, he will get over all that. I'm not the judge."
"Someday, she will outgrow all that and come to a more sensible faith. I won't be the judge."
"You'll understand when you come to a deeper place with the Lord. I can't be your judge."
Sound familiar? It is so very easy, especially in our "Christianese" to look down on others in a judgmental way. But there is no place for this in the economy of the Kingdom. Why? Because no matter how "far" we may feel we have come, no matter how "deep" we may walk with God, we will all stand before God's judgment seat just the same. Every knee will bow and confess to God, giving an account of our lives to God.
But don't we have the grace of Jesus at the judgment? Yes, absolutely. And that Christian you have been looking down on? Yes? So does he.

Lord, I confess before You that I am a sinner. Only by Your grace am I here. Help me daily to see that we are all on our knees before our Lord. None better. None worse. All sinners, in need of grace. Thank You, Jesus, for that grace. Amen.
