Woes into Wows
May 17, 2026 Pastor: Dr. Jeffrey D. Hoy Series: Interpreting the Times
Verse: Luke 11:39–54
Woe is one of those Bible words you don't want to hear from Jesus. He didn't say it a lot, but when He did it was a sad moment. Woe is an exclamation of grief and warning at the same time. It says that God is more than just not pleased. He is grieved. Interestingly, the grief of God was not focused at the sort of people we might first think-- the sinful rule-breakers or morally degenerate. In fact, it may shock us who grieved Jesus the most!
The good news is that the declaration of Woe was never the end of the story. If we will listen, if we will hear-- there is always a way that Jesus is ready to turn the Woe into a Wow.
