The Upward Call
Verse: Philippians 3:12–3:16
The Apostle Paul was a spiritual giant in the eyes of the Philippians. His history as a prominent member of the Sanhedrin afforded him honor and respect in the Jewish Community. He was also a Roman citizen, which gave him a double-dose of significance. Paul was a big deal…not in a good way.
As a believer, though, he recognized that his faith had to begin with humility. Only then could he begin to put his faith into action. Not dwelling on his sordid past, Paul chose to focus on the goal for the upward call in Christ Jesus. We can learn to do the same.
