It may be the most overused metaphor in preacher-dom, if that is a word. The "slippery slope" describes the danger of going too far in a direction, and somehow losing control. It is an apt description for the concern the Lord Jesus addressed to a church in the book of Revelation. Sometimes a good thing can become a terribly dangerous thing.
