Your King is Coming

March 25, 2018 Pastor: Dr. Jeffrey D. Hoy Series: Give Us A King

Verse: 1 Samuel 8:1–8:9, John 12:12–12:15

"HOSANNA!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Blessed is the King of Israel!" These are the now familiar phrases that echoed across the Valle...y as Jesus was coming into Jerusalem. (John 12:13)  On what we call Palm Sunday, branches were waving to welcome Jesus just prior to Passover. The people were longing for a king and they were thrilled to see Jesus.   What we often miss is that this longing for a king went back more than a THOUSAND years before Jesus. We find the roots of this Messianic hope in the time of Samuel, who anointed the first and second king of Israel.
Join us as we celebrate one of most grand of Christian days-- Palm Sunday-- and as we learn about the hope for a king that has been in believers for nearly three thousand years. Our study, "Your King is Coming," ties together the promises of the Old and New Testaments.
