Luke 19:28

After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.

The last few miles approaching Jerusalem were not easy.  The climb was steep as the pilgrims recited the Psalms of Ascent on each gathering vista.

Psalm 133   A song of ascents. Of David.

How good and pleasant it is

when brothers live together in unity!

[2] It is like precious oil poured on the head,

        running down on the beard,

    running down on Aaron's beard,

down upon the collar of his robes.

[3] It is as if the dew of Hermon

        were falling on Mount Zion.

For there the Lord bestows his blessing,

        even life forevermore.

The fourteenth vista of the journey spoke of unity.  As Jesus walked up the last and steepest of the rolling hills, those around Him were reciting these calming words.  How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity.  Like the precious oil of anointing poured on the head and running down Aaron's beard.  Like the dew of Hermon falling on Mount Zion.  The blessings of the Lord is life evermore.

There is a unity that comes only when we journey together.  Those who go through a difficult time or work on a project together often find unity.  Those who run a race or achieve something together also are bonded.  Those who walked the road to Jerusalem found such unity.  As we journey together with the Lord and toward His Kingdom, there cannot help but be a sense of unity.

But there is something more here.  When we receive the Messiah, there will be a peace and unity if we are surrendered to the Messiah. Any presence of the anointing of the Lord will manifest itself in this way.  Anointing will lead to unity in the Body, if it is genuine.   A sure sign that man is at work, and that we are laboring in our own vanity, is when there is disharmony and disruption in the Body of Christ.  The Body of Christ, working in the anointing of His presence, does not war against itself.

Are you celebrating unity with brothers and sisters?  Are you enjoying the peace that only comes by His Spirit and anointing poured out upon you?  Let the peace and unity of the Lord fall on you like the dew of Mount Hermon as the Lord bestows His blessing.

Father God, give me the blessings of unity with my brothers and sisters in Christ.  Let me know and celebrate the blessing of the journey with others.  In Jesus' name.
