Romans 16
[21] Timothy, my fellow worker, sends his greetings to you, as do Lucius, Jason and Sosipater, my relatives.
[22] I, Tertius, who wrote down this letter, greet you in the Lord.
[23] Gaius, whose hospitality I and the whole church here enjoy, sends you his greetings.
Erastus, who is the city's director of public works, and our brother Quartus send you their greetings. [24]
[25] Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, [26] but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey him‑‑ [27] to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.

Paul concludes our powerful journey through law, faith, and grace by sending greetings and at the same time acknowledging several of those who had helped him.
Timothy is recognized as a "fellow worker." Lucius, Jason, and Sosipater were probably not actual relatives. Still, they were of that special family of helping Christians who are so often closer than blood. Tertius was the secretary who actually wrote all these things down. He has been our silent companion through these many chapters. Gaius was a convert at Corinth. Erastus was a man of prominence whose support as the director of public works was significant. Quartus was another spiritual brother.
All these are important and dear people preserved for all time in the Word of God. All sent their greetings. All should be acknowledged. Why? Because it is often the case that those who help us the most are the least appreciated. It is good to give thanks to the helper, the brothers, the secretaries, and the prominent supporters!
The final blessing of Romans is sheer magnificence. It is a powerful word to move us forward. "Now to him who is able to establish you..." The word used here means 'able to turn you resolutely in the right direction and set you fast in that direction.'
How? "By my gospel..." -- not to be confused with a false gospel. Also by "the proclamation of Jesus Christ" -- the Gospel which is the power of salvation. This is "according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God."
This Good News is the fulfillment of that which was revealed to prophets through the ages. Still, its purpose is not only for the Jews but "so that all nations (the Gentiles) might believe and obey him."
"To the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ!" All to Him. All to His glory. Never-ending glory through Jesus Christ. Amen.

    Amen and Amen.
