 Ephesians 6

[9] And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him. [10] Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

So work is a God thing and workers are a trust from the Lord.  He very much looks to see the way that employees and workers are treated.  Deuteronomy 24:14 - Do not take advantage of a hired man who is poor and needy, whether he is a brother Israelite or an alien living in one of your towns.

What Paul proposed was really revolutionary-- Treat your employees with respect.  In the same way that I have instructed workers to respect the boss, you are to respect your workers. Listen to them. Don't be kind just for "eyeservice."  Don’t threaten your employees-- since you know their Boss is your Boss in heaven.  There is no favoritism with Him.

The KJV translates this - There is no "respect of persons" or partiality with God in heaven.  There is no one respected above another in the eyes of God. This person you employ is your brother or sister for eternity--or is potentially a brother or sister.  They are your employee for just a while, and that relationship may be used for an eternal purpose.

To both the employer and employee Paul wrote: Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.  This is a bridge into the matter of Spiritual Warfare, but it is also a reminder that as believers, there are matters more important than who is the boss and who is the worker, and who submits to whom in the family.

The reality is that there are Kingdom battles going on all around us.  Our primary battles are not about flesh and blood. Spiritual warfare goes on in the family and in the workplace.  So don't miss this.  1st Work is a gift from God - a God thing - for both employee and employer.  2nd Do your work-- employer and employee-- as unto the Lord.  3rd Eternity is the bigger picture for your life and the people entrusted to you.  4th You are God’s tool to win and bless your employer or to win and bless your employee.

Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

Father God, help me to be strong in You and in Your mighty power.  Help me to honor You whether in the position of hiring another or working for another.  Help me to respect the gift of a working relationship and to see Your hand in all that I am doing.  Help me to be a witness and a blessing to those who work around me or with me.  In Jesus’ Name.
