Chapter 22 of 2 Samuel is entirely a song of praise regarding God's strength and faithfulness in delivering David from his enemies.

2 Samuel 22:38-51
[38] "I pursued my enemies and crushed them; I did not turn back till they were destroyed. [39] I crushed them completely, and they could not rise; they fell beneath my feet. [40] You armed me with strength for battle; you made my adversaries bow at my feet. [41] You made my enemies turn their backs in flight, and I destroyed my foes. [42] They cried for help, but there was no one to save them-- to the LORD, but he did not answer. [43] I beat them as fine as the dust of the earth; I pounded and trampled them like mud in the streets. [44] "You have delivered me from the attacks of my people; you have preserved me as the head of nations. People I did not know are subject to me, [45] and foreigners come cringing to me; as soon as they hear me, they obey me. [46] They all lose heart; they come trembling from their strongholds. [47] "The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God, the Rock, my Savior! [48] He is the God who avenges me, who puts the nations under me, [49] who sets me free from my enemies. You exalted me above my foes; from violent men you rescued me. [50] Therefore I will praise you, O LORD, among the nations; I will sing praises to your name. [51] He gives his king great victories; he shows unfailing kindness to his anointed, to David and his descendants forever."

The song of David here clearly declares his victories won with the power of the Lord. He declares his overwhelming gratitude for the great victories attained by the Lord in his behalf. Adequately strengthened and properly equipped by the Lord, David was able to gain extensive victory over his enemies with God's help.
David described the thoroughness of his triumph with words that virtually exhaust the lexicon of Hebrew verbs pertaining to annihilation. He crushed, decimated, and wiped out his enemies until they were destroyed. God had armed David with strength and made his enemies bow before him in craven submission. Those who rose up against David would rise no more.
Although David's enemies tried to find relief, there was no one to save them when they cried for help. Giving his enemies no quarter, David beat them as fine as the dust of the earth. He trampled them with his feet as though they were mud in the streets. The references are a designation of shame and disgrace as objects of humiliation and contempt.
Out of this great victory came the cry that The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God, the Rock, my Savior! David's worship of the Lord was not a hypothetical exercise. He really experienced the victory of the Lord in His life.
It is interesting to think about this song of victory as pointing toward the ultimate victory of the Lord Jesus. Jesus was thoroughly equipped and then engaged the enemy of all humanity upon the cross. Jesus crushed, decimated, and wiped out the enemy of God on the cross. Then came the great song of victory—The Lord lives! Praise be to the Rock! Exalted be God, the Rock… The triumph of resurrection became the mark that is upon all believers in Jesus.
This is the victory we rejoice in. This is the triumph that we sing of. This is the enemy that was crushed—Satan and the power of sin and death. This is the triumph we walk in.

Lord God, I rejoice in Your victory. You are my Rock and my deliverer. You have set me free from the power of sin and death. I rejoice as I walk with You in that victory. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
