Genesis 18
[9] "Where is your wife Sarah?" they asked him.
"There, in the tent," he said.
[10] Then the Lord said, "I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son."
Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him. [11] Abraham and Sarah were already old and well advanced in years, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing. [12] So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, "After I am worn out and my master is old, will I now have this pleasure?"
[13] Then the Lord said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh and say, 'Will I really have a child, now that I am old?' [14] Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year and Sarah will have a son."
[15] Sarah was afraid, so she lied and said, "I did not laugh."
But he said, "Yes, you did laugh."

Sometimes God's vision for us is nothing short of ridiculous. At least from our view. There is no other way to put it.
That was certainly the case with Abraham and Sarah. Sarah overheard the Lord speaking to Abraham and saying that she would now have a son during the following year. Sarah was about 90 years old! She hadn't been thinking of babies for years! She had to laugh to herself. "After I am worn out, and my master is old, will I now have this pleasure?"
Of course, the Lord heard Sarah's quiet laughter in the tent and questioned it. The poignant question asked was this: "Is anything too hard for the Lord?"  This is a question the Lord would want us to remember. Seven words to recall whenever we are tempted to laugh at the plans of the Lord. Is anything too hard for the Lord?
One of my favorite stories about Walt Disney tells us that this visionary artist and businessman had an advisory board to which he took any new or big idea. He would bounce his new plan off of this group of advisors. The interesting thing was the response he looked for. Disney determined that only if all the advisors opposed the new idea as too outlandish, too grand, or impossible, was the plan actually of the scope needed to proceed. If such imagination and vision can exist in human heart and flesh, can we even fathom the depths of what God may have in mind?
God's vision consistently exceeds the scope of what we think we can do ourselves. Why? Perhaps one reason is that if the vision of God was within our abilities, then God is not necessary! Mostly, however, God consistently shows His mighty hand by calling inadequate people to do things beyond their ability.
Just think of Noah and the Ark, Moses and Pharaoh, David and Goliath, Gideon and the Midianites, to name just a few! This is the walk of faith. Walking with God into the impossible and realizing nothing is impossible with God! The business plans of the world will never understand this. The common sense of the world will never grasp this.
This is not to say that Christian dreamers are to come up with laughable plans on their own and call this "faith." This is actually "folly." But we are to listen. Listen under the trees of fellowship with God. Listen at the tent. Listen for what it is that God wants us to do. Then don't be surprised if we chuckle, even laugh!
What God desires to do in your life will be quite beyond anything you could imagine. What God wants to do in your church will take your breath away. What God wants to do in the Body of Christ will bring us all to stunned silence… and then laughter.
Are you ready for a good laugh? Get still. Listen for a while. The Lord probably has a good joke to tell you. Except it isn't a joke. It is His plan for you.

God Almighty. I am listening. Show me what it is You want to do. Show me how You want me to be involved. Show me the first step on the next part of the adventure. In Jesus' name.
