Romans 4
[16] Therefore, the Promise comes by Faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring—not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the Faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all. [17] As it is written: "I have made you a father of many nations." He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed--the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.

Some promises come by Law.  A promise that is legally binding is a contract.  A contract can be enforced by Law.  The breach of a contract can be brought before a judge, and the obligation will be enforced.  But the Promise of God is different.
The Promise of God comes by Faith.  The Promise God made to bless Abraham and His offspring was a promise of grace.  There was nothing that Abraham paid. Abraham brought nothing to the table. The blessing of God was not a contractual obligation on His part.  If so, there would be no blessing because no human could fulfill a contract with God.
There is also nothing that God needs that we could provide to Him.  We cannot create a contractual obligation on the part of God to bless us because everything comes from Him anyway.  His blessing is by grace and grace alone.  All that we can do is trust.  The Promise comes by Faith.  We put Faith in the person and character of God.  We have trust in the Promise of God.
Only God can fulfill the Promise.  Only God can fulfill righteousness.  That is why God in Christ came to live a sinless life and to fulfill all righteousness in Jesus.  God provided both sides of the Covenant.
We receive the Promise of God when we place our full Faith and trust in the One who made the Promise.  When we trust the person behind the Promise, we do not need contractual obligation or the force of law.
It is for this reason that the Promise of God is available to both to those who are of the Law and those who are of the Faith of Abraham.  The Promise is available to both the seed of Abraham and to those grafted into God's family by Faith.

Lord, I put my Faith in You, the giver of the Promise.  I trust that You have fulfilled all obligations of the Covenant. I receive Your Promise by Faith.  Amen.
