Romans 15
[30] I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me. [31] Pray that I may be rescued from the unbelievers in Judea and that my service in Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints there, [32] so that by God's will I may come to you with joy and together with you be refreshed. [33] The God of peace be with you all. Amen.

What is the most important way to support missions? Pray! This has not changed in 2000 years. Paul urged the believers at Rome to join in his struggle not by leaving home or even sending money, but in prayer.
Financial and physical support are important, but Paul knew that there would be particular struggles ahead in Jerusalem. There was fierce opposition to him. He also knew that no endeavor for the Kingdom ever found success without being bathed in prayer, even down to the tiniest detail.
The truth is that while donors for missions are not as common as we would like, unfortunately, they are easier to find than intercessors. People who are deeply committed to praying for missions and missionaries are too few. And it is hard to understand why.
The truth is that partnering in prayer has some remarkable benefits!
For one, it connects you to a missionary as nothing else can. Paul was clear to the Roman believers that if they partnered with him in prayer, he would come to see them with great joy. Prayer is what connects us to missionaries.
Secondly, such partners will find refreshing. Paul said that when he came and visited with those who had prayed for him, they would together be refreshed. There is great refreshing in the world of missions. It is absolutely a frontier like the first-century church. Hearing the answers to mission field prayer is like reading the book of Acts in modern day. The miracles and provisions of God in the mission field are remarkable, and the witness we hear is always refreshing.
Do you want spiritual refreshing? Partner with a missionary in prayer, stay in touch, and hang on! Are you connected? Not just once in a while. Are you partnered in prayer with a missionary or two? It will be the thrill of your life to do so and hear the incredible wonders that come from time on your knees.

Lord, connect me with the world of Your missions. I pray for connection and refreshing in Jesus' name. Amen.
