Exodus 14
[13] Moses answered the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. [14] The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still."
[15] Then the Lord said to Moses, "Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. [16] Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. [17] I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen. [18] The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen."

"Do not be afraid. Stand firm, and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today." Moses spoke these powerful words into a desperate situation. This was not a time to be afraid. It was a time to trust. Yet there seems to have been an almost paralyzing fear that was upon the people.
Even Moses appears to have been struggling with the impending doom that seemed to be descending upon the nation. Moses apparently cried out before the Lord because the Lord answered by saying that the time for crying was over.
It was time to move on. It was time to raise the staff that had already been used to implement miracles. It was time for the most spectacular miracle ever. This deliverance would be remembered for centuries and for all time. Apparently, there is a time to be still, but there also is time to move out. This was it.
In our lives, there is a time to move on. We often face similar situations, even if on a much smaller scale. We may find ourselves in an impossible situation. We pray and submit our circumstances to the Lord. It is a time to trust, not fear. But then there is also a time to "move on." There is a time when we are called by the Lord to move into the deliverance that He is executing. We are called by God to step out in faith upon that which we hope for and cannot yet see.
Moving on is often the critical turning point in our faith. Standing is important. Being still is essential. Moving on when the Lord is calling us is vital. It is not something we can manufacture or design. It is something that comes only at the Lord's command and in His timing.
Are you faced with a frightening prospect? There is a time to be still before the Lord. There is a time to listen. There is also a time to move in faith.

Father, give me ears to hear and a heart to follow Your leading. In the times that seem to paralyze, show me how to move on. In Jesus' name.
