Luke 10

[20] However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."

[21] At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.

[22] "All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."

[23] Then he turned to his disciples and said privately, "Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. [24] For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it."

When was the last time you just rejoiced over the gift of your salvation? When was the last time you simply rejoiced over the fact that your name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life? When was the last time that you just sat in awesome wonder and over flowing joy because you are HIS? The greatest celebration of all? Jesus died for me.

Jesus gave us the example for how we should respond in victory. Jesus was full of joy through the Holy Spirit. His joy was not based upon any victory. His joy is not based on any defeat. His joy is not based upon the ministry circumstance. His joy is not dependant upon which disciple has done a good job and which one has let Him down.

His joy is not dependant upon the victory at all. His joy is not based upon whether He has just been rejected in a village or accepted. His joy is through the Holy Spirit. His joy is based on being united with God.

Jesus simply praised God because God has made all this simple and pure. I praise you because it is your nature to hide the deep truths from the wise and learned and reveal them to little children. I love you Father and praise You because it is your nature to make things simple and pure. You disciples are blessed because thing have been revealed to you that prophets and kings wanted to see.

How do you get this kind of JOY? This joy of the Holy Spirit rejoices NOT in the victories of the valley but rejoices in an eternal relationship with God and rejoices simply in who God is. Get to know God. How do you do that? How do you get to know God? Get to know Jesus. Only the Son reveals the nature of the Father.

Here is the big question. Is your name written in heaven? God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. He desires only the best for you. But because of sin we are separated from Him and that plan. But God made a provision for our sin in the person of Jesus Christ. God created a perfect and complete sacrifice for our sin. When Jesus willingly was obedient to go to the cross, HE won a victory for YOU bigger than anything. He won the salvation of your soul. You can receive that free gift of salvation bought at great expense. This is the only source of real joy.

Father God, thank you for the offer of Your grace in Jesus. I receive and rejoice in Your gift of salvation. I rejoice in the victory that my name is written in heaven. Show me how to rejoice in the simplicity of Your love and grace. In Jesus' name.
