Romans 14
[19] Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.[20] Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a man to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble.[21] It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall.
[22] So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.Blessed is the man who does not condemn himself by what he approves.[23] But the man who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.

And how shall we handle these matters of personal life and judgment? Paul instructs that it is not simply a matter of "not judging." On a much more positive note, we are to make every effort to do what leads to peace and mutual edification. It is not enough simply not to tear down, we are to build up. There is no gain in religious fighting among the faithful. Do what leads to peace and the building up of the Body of Christ.
Don't allow matters of daily lifestyle or personal conviction to come between believers. In fact, keep such things between yourself and God. Some personal matters of faith are just that, personal.
As people set free in Christ, many convictions are private. Keep it that way, between you and God. Don't allow your convictions to become a matter of pride or prejudice. That doesn't mean you approve of a lifestyle you understand to be unscriptural. Blessed is the man who does not condemn himself by what he approves. Living in peace does not necessarily mean approval, but we must stay clear of judgment.
Even more important, we are to do everything in faith, that is, in a posture of complete trust in God. Answer these questions: Are my life decisions and actions based on faith, complete trust in God, or in doubt? Am I truly trusting God or holding out because I want control? Do I trust God with my life and future, or do I insist on taking matters into my own hands? Am I able to abandon my own thoughts and understanding to follow the call of God?
The man who has doubts is condemned if he eats because his eating is not from faith and everything that does not come from faith is sin.
That is the bottom line: Everything that does not come from faith is sin. Even when we do all the right things, eat all the right foods, and drink every correct beverage, we sin if we do so in pride. We can lead the most "holy life," meticulously attending to every detail of the law, but if we do not do so in faith, we sin.

Lord, I want my life to honor You. I choose to trust You and live this day in faith that I might not sin against You. I may mess up. I choose poorly. But all I do, I choose to do in dependence upon You. In Jesus' name.
