John 1
[35] The next day John was there again with two of his disciples. [36] When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, "Look, the Lamb of God!"
[37] When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus. [38] Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, "What do you want?"
They said, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?"
[39] "Come," he replied, "and you will see."
So they went and saw where he was staying, and spent that day with him. It was about the tenth hour.

So where does the journey of faith begin? Where does discipleship start?
We have often been taught that discipleship is a “deeper walk” sort of thing. In fact, it is commonly thought that salvation is the “basic” relationship with Jesus and then later we arrive at the “discipleship” level. John the Evangelist (the Gospel writer) shows us something a little different.
Two of John’s (the Baptizer) disciples determined to follow this Jesus once they heard their teacher declare Him to be the Lamb of God. The first words these two disciples heard from Jesus were “What do you want?” Jesus did not spin around in the dust and snap at them, but the question probably seemed a bit odd. Jesus was asking, “What are you seeking in life?” Our journey often begins with such a basic question. What is life really about?
The response of the disciples is interesting. They asked, “Where are you staying?” Jesus, what is your location so we can go there? We want to arrive that that location where ever it is!
Jesus’ response is telling. “Come, and you will see.” The answer is not a location but an invitation: “Come and see”. That is the answer.
The faith journey is not about arriving at an address but starting and continuing on a journey. Jesus says: Begin the journey of faith and you will find out! The answer is not a place, a destination, or even a goal. It is the journey with Me.
Jesus would ask you and me today, “What do you want?” Do you want genuine peace? Do you want real life? Do you want eternity? Okay. Then come and see. Start the journey. Walk with Me.

Lord, I want life! I am ready to walk with You today and into eternity. Thank You for Your blessed invitation. In Jesus’ name.
